Interesting livestream. Not the usual political posturing but academic discussion of international politics that was thought provoking. You don't see that type dialogue of tv anymore as everyone is busy scoring points and the topic takes a backseat. One word came to mind which was erudite.

I'm sorry I missed the livestream. Your panelists make many insightful comments as usual.
To some extent China and the USA misapprehend each other but in different regards. The USA tended to underplay Chinese threats and over-emphasize Chinese opportunities and now may be erring, at least in regard to certain points, in the opposite direction.
An easy and no at all volatile example: both the Chinese and here the USA claim to have lifted millions out of poverty. In fact, the Chinese people being hard working and acquisitive, desirous of property and prosperity, worked very hard and at very low pay even in the face of real risks like mining or construction accidents, to achieve moderate prosperity. "All" the CCP did was create security conditions -- domestic policing, foreign peace; "All" the USA did was massive loans, terms of trade very favorable to China, and ignoring Chinese mercantilism (greedy wishful thinking much? A billion cokes a day!)
And now, that highly productive peaceful and beneficial system is breaking down.
YOU SHOULD BOTH BLAME PUTIN.
