How to Chenille a Quilt Panel

To make a chenille quilt is like working in reverse. You finish the quilt top and then you cut it apart! But it really is easy and fun!
I do get a commission if you buy from these links, thank you

I did chenille of steam engines using only 3 layers of the image. Not totally satisfied. Additional chenille projects used 3 layers and the 4th for the background as you described. I was very satisfied with those results. Thank you for your time and sharing with us. You are inspirational. Thanks.

What a cool technique. I thought I had heard of everything. I've never done anything with panels they haven't really interested me but now I want to run out and buy one. Thank you for sharing this awesome tutorial.

Hi Laura, loved what you did to Sean from "Sean The Sheep" who is the leader of the flock and a boy sheep. Unless you are a cartoon freak like me (in my late 60's and still watch cartoons and quilt) you wouldn't know she is really a he. By the way finally able to buy your book. Should be here in 2 weeks. Can't wait to give it a hug first as it is your book, then I'll open it, am making a quilt from your lessons that you said was in the book. God bless you and your family. I’m planning on making a chenille quilt for my great grand niece. I’d already bought several panels of an adorable lamb. I’d decided to chenille only the lamb itself. It’s been a long time since I’ve made any chenille, and did a search for any hints and tips. In viewing my search results, lo and behold, there was my lamb! You had the same idea of fluffing up just the lamb. I’d wondered about doing the face, but you helped me. I’d always used pins to secure the layers, but your use of glue dots was a really good idea. It’s never too late to learn new ideas. Thank you!!!

Love this idea to chenille only part of the quilt. I made your snowman chenille quilt from your earlier tutorial. Now I'm going to make this one! Thanks for continuing to inspire us to try new techniques. Love all your videos!

Laura, this is absolutely adorable!!! Using a cute panel(s) is so much better than ‘regular’ fabric or flannel. I’m definitely on the lookout for panels now!! Thank you for sharing your ideas and expertise!

I made this type of chenille blanket years ago and i loved the finish. I made mine border to border, but I really like how you did your panel. I am now going to try your method. Thank you for the renewed inspiration.
