Is Joel Osteen Merely Not Recommended, Or Is He A False Teacher?

Recently a Christian YouTuber said that while he does not recommend Joel Osteen because of his prosperity theology and weak preaching, he does not consider Osteen to be a false teacher because he has an orthodox statement of faith. Though I understand this brother's sentiment behind his statement (not wanting to call everyone with whom we disagree on secondary issues a wolf), I do not believe Joel Osteen fits into this third category of "Not recommended but not a false teacher." Joel Osteen is very much a false teacher and one of the most dangerous ones at that.

Used to listen to Joel Osteen for a few years, realizing he was a motivational speaker both myself and my husband, but the eye opening teaching from you, changed that. The first time I saw Joel Osteen on TV I knew there was something way off about him. My mom loves him. She watches him faithfully. Over the years I've never said anything to her about him. But in the last few months I've seen many things about him. It confirmed everything I thought about him. My mom doesn't take anything I say in matters like this very well. But one day I decided to say something. I asked God to guide my words and to let me get thru to her without a horrible reaction towards me. I told her what was on my mind. She received it well and she has stopped watching him.

Hi Mr. Peters, I just wanted to thank you for the work you do. I was rasied as a Catholic, went tonprivate schools my whole life and had 12 yrs of religion classes, however I have learned more about the Bible listening to your channel. I lost my Bible Ive had since my confirmation in 8th grade but hope to buy one soon. Learning more about Gods word is more important to me now then it ever has been in my life.
