Thanks for this video; it was helpful. On my Android 10 device, I think my gboard had been initially black (following the change to system dark mode) but lately has turned white somehow. I went to the settings, like showing in the video, and picked Themes. Among the themes is an option to follow the system default. I selected that theme, and that fixed the problem; keyboard is now dark.
