The Blood Moon has got to be one of the most genius mechanics in any game I’ve ever seen.

even better: save before the blood moon starts, and you won't lose resources or durability!

You know the game is desperate when a blood moon happens in the Depths.

You know that the Panic Blood Moon is powerful when it even triggers in the depth while a normally occurring Blood Moon does not

I’m telling you it is shockingly funny how often I end up getting a blood moon after sleeping in my house in the game

Go to the top of Hyrule Castle (where the Dusk Bow is) create anything to let you fly, and head for the island above Lookout Landing. Works every time.

Use a lynel 5 shot bow to do it even easier

I… I actually forced a blood moon by accident on my new run on totk, I wanted to beat ganondorf by literally not doing any shrine besides the 4 obligatory, no sages and no paraglider, but in order to do that, I needed to get good pristine weapons, so I killed almost anything I found in the chasm (completed the floating coliseum with 4 hearts and some pristine traveler weapons), I went to goron city to find some firebreaker armor to keep exploring the chasm and find more places in which ghost knights appear and kill more enemies to level up my world, killed a lizalfos and a blood moon triggered in midday, I literally destroyed so many monsters that a blood moon triggered, I can’t believe it

For those who don’t know it’s called a panic blood moon

I once in Breath of the wild grabbed the bookshelf at Hyrule castle and carried it all the way to (it’s been a long time I forgot the name but the village where the dye trader is) and as soon as the bookshelf got inside the village a blood moon immediately happened, The funny part is it was daytime.

That means, at a time, it takes 180 minutes for a blood moon to occur, since 24 minutes is one day in totk. I’m including the 12 hours before the actual moon on that 8th day, so without that it’s 168

I never knew it was to stop a crash I just assumed it was to keep the game more fun every moon

Correction: Blood moons occur after 168 real life minutes have past during Active gameplay

Another way to do a panic moon is glitch enemies, let’s say there’s a lizalfos but it’s not working correctly or just not working at all the game will panic and have a blood moon

17 in-game days?! Well, I guess I just play too much. 😭

I randomly almost got a blood moon in the middle of the day in the earlier versions of the game. I was so confused I fled into a shrine.
Totk crashes on me so it's not foolproof

For me, a blood moon randomly happened at hyrule castle. DURING DAY TIME. (Dont know if this has anything to do with the blood moon, but it started raining when it said it was sunny).
