I enjoyed this song when it came out because I had been sober 10 years by then and it’d been a while since I had to say I was sorry for doing something or saying something dumb or hurtful while I was drunk. Love you guys keep up the great work! BTW still sober..

“It's Been Awhile” is on the 2001 album, Break the Cycle, and was the lead single. This is Stainds' best-known song and their most successful

The lyrics "I can not blame this on my father, he did the best he could for me" still gets me choked up everytime I hear it.

Their song “Outside” will give you chills. But do the version featuring Fred Durst. It was live, the first time it was preformed and he created half of the lyrics on the spot. I think it’s better then the studio version.

You should check out their song "So Far Away" another slow paced grunge song. Love this guy's voice!

Aaron Lewis has some great solo acoustic stuff. Check out "When I'm Gone" "Something to Remind You" He has a few acoustic covers that are killer as well, "Nutshell" "Black" and "What Hurts the Most"....oh can't forget his cover of Tool's "Sober"

This is a song about overcoming drug addiction. (BTW this is the edited addition).
You may also enjoy Aaron Lewis s solo career. He became a country singer with very good albums.

I saw Aaron 5-6 years ago at a casino in Arkansas just him and his guitar and a slide guitar accompanying him.. he’s changed genres and has put out a few country albums… he did a few Staind songs… he has a very unique deep raspy voice that I love..

If you like his voice accompanied by an acoustic guitar, check out Aaron Lewis- Outside (Aaron Lewis is the lead singer of Staind) he did it with Fred Durst (lead singer of limp bizkit) so maybe that can be your intro to them. Although Limp Bizkit as a whole is much harder than that song, but it’s a band that would get Jay out of his seat

Just saw Staind in concert a few weeks ago. They are still rocking. This is their power ballad. This song is always the second to last in their set list surround by their other two best songs…. Real bangers “For You” and closed out with “Mudshovel.” Awesome concert.

Saw these guys with Three Days Grace and Nickelback. Fun night. With Staind's album production being slick and Aaron needing to be in key all the time as the vocal line is usually a melody or counter-melody I was skeptical they could sound so polished live. They did.

It's amazing how we feel the regret of loss. This song probably means different things to different people.

One of 2001's absolute highlights. The soft, pretty verses crashing into the slow heavy chorus with that wall-of-sound guitar noise, (but it's never gratuitous noise; it serves the song perfectly). This song got me through a rather tumultuous breakup around this time; a lot of soul-searching was done (usually with this song in the background, which helped sometimes).

Saw them at the Hard Rock in Tulsa last month and they were incredible. Every song sounded great. Took me back to some good times when their music was coming out. Definitely check them out live.

Now we're talkin! Staind loosely fits into the late 90s/early 2000's genre called "nu metal" that also contains bands like Disturbed, Korn, Godsmack, and Sevendust. I HIGHLY recommend "Here to Stay" by Korn, "Voodoo" by Godsmack, and "Black" by Sevendust. They are insanely awesome. As for Staind, this song definitely gave you the more mellow side of Aaron Lewis's voice. Some of their other standouts are "Mudshovel", "Fade", "For You", "So Far Away", "Believe", "Not Again", and my personal favorite, "Outside". (Another category this has been labeled as is "post-grunge". This song was released in 2001. The album it's from, Break the Cycle, was phenomenal.) Great choice!

My buddy introduced me to Staind on his car radio back in the day. It was an acquired appreciation, but I really have enjoyed this group ever since then. Great choice!
