The vans never did actually detect anything - it was all setup for show - The oscilloscope was just connected to a waveform generator to make it look like it was picking up signals. The BBC has confirmed the vans were real but their detection was fake - Great British public been duped AGAIN.

There are no detector vans anymore - just a bunch of goons who have binoculars to spy on your windows for flickering tv light! The TV license enforcement officers are not officers and they enforce fuck all. they are SALESMEN who get upto £20 commission for every license they can con u into buying - they need to pretend they have official power to make u bend over. They have the same powers as a pizza delivery boy. Just slam the door in their face. Go research all this and wise up! CANCEL YOUR LICENCE and take control once n for all!

OK so the guy "detected" the tv by seeing it. It was BRIGHT YELLOW! and outside on the driveway. Why not place it indoors where a normal tv would be? They must think we're daft!

I am A TV engineer with 30 years in the trade, there was nothing to detect..I asked about this for years and always got blanked.

my mate was working for them and used to let me know when they were in my area so i wouldn't answer the door to them he never even had a license and worked for them lol as for the vans they drive it into an area in the hope its enough to scare people into getting one but that backfired when they returned to it and all the tyres and windows were done in lmao as for detection that's a dose of crap they just go to every address without a licence and catch who they can

I initially informed the TV licence people that I don't require a licence and they sent me a letter informing me that someone might still come around to check. So I called them and told them if they send one of their peadophiles to my house and they ask to look around my daughters bedroom, it won't end well for anyone.
I haven't heard from them since.

I believe that old crts did produce a specific detectable frequency. But with digital television the only thing they could detect is electromagnetic field radiation, which is produced by literally every electronic device. It's utterly impossible to differentiate a tv from a fridge or a phone charger or even a dimmable light switch by detecting EMF
