Planting summer cash crop consisting of 500 sweet potatoes (2,000 lb yield), 500 tomatoes (10,000 lb yield), 500 summer squash (12,500 lb yield), 150 zucchini (3,750 lb yield), and 50 watermelon (1,250 lb yield). Total potential yield of 29,500 pounds. We sell our organic produce at our farm stand for $2 per pound, so retail value of our summer cash crops is $59,000. We also wholesale our organic produce to other year round farmer's markets for $1 per pound, so wholesale value is $29,500. Our start up costs were $350 for 10 yards of garden soil, $500 for pots and trellis, $300 for plant starts, $200 for fencing, $100 for hose and sprinkler, $200 for mulch, and $100 for time released organic fertilizers, total ($1,750). Minimum return on investment is $27,750 and maximum is $57,250 after the 90-120 day summer growing period.

We will be uploading weekly updates on our progress throughout the year. Thank you for watching, please comment, like, share, and subscribe to our channel.

Even during these 100 degree temperatures we have been having, our plants are doing okay under the protective shade of our Oak Trees, as well as utilizing thick layers of spent hay helps us retain water between rain or irrigation cycles.
