The HP is back out on the bench after taking a short holiday in its cupboard 😅

Fault finding can be a tedious process, following schematics, tracing the board at component level, in circuit measurement etc.

What if we could speed up determining an area of interest?

Here we take a look at our failed late 1970’s oscilloscope through an infra-red camera.

Not only does it look awesome but we can quickly highlight hot spots. Excessive heat could give the game away pinpointing lurking faults.

This initial inspection has highlighted a couple of areas of interest, one on the timing board and another on the power supply board.
