They forgot to mention the REASON Chaplin bounced between his father and mother. Chaplin's mother suffered from mental illness and spent much of her time in and out of asylums. What a nightmare for a small child, not only did Charlie have to deal with extreme poverty, having to go to the last place anyone wanted to end up in, the disease ridden workhouses where children had to do hard physical labor, were starved and subject to all kinds of abuse. But he had an alcoholic absentee father, a mentally ill mother and also had to take care of his little brother through all this! It's amazing Charlie didn't end up in an asylum himself!!

Charlie just wants people to not suffer the sadness he had.

He may have been the highest paid actor in the film industry but it's partially anachronistic to call the film industry Hollywood during the peak of his career. Hollywood became metonymous (synonymous in the sense of something related to something becoming a term to refer to that thing) with the (US) film industry by 1922. Chaplin's first gigantic paycheck was when he was 26, in 1915. He was making records for his film career income for years before Hollywood became known as the center of that industry. Indeed, his early hits were filmed at studios elsewhere in LA.

He was affected by the mental distress. He would have had a Harvey Weinstine issue. In Hollywood today.

Great video. If you want a really immersive Chaplin experience (Chaplins World), in Switzerland, the Geneva side, near a town called Vevey is where you can find his home that has been converted to a museum. Go to the vevey market like chaplin use to do. Still one of the most beautiful places I've been to, as well.

I thought this was really well done and certainly very entertaining. We absolutely love dear Charles Chaplin.
Only just realized Charles shares his most identifying initials with another significant CC....ClllC
