Snails have two long stalks on their head that house their little eyeballs and two smaller stalks on the bottom of their head that sense smells. They make their eye stalks shorter when scared or sleepy and longer when exploring or happy and energized. They pull them into their shell when they sleep or are frightened. They can stick one or both out or in their shell with their body out or in their shell also. They wiggle their eye stalks when excited or curious. Uyu wiggles his when he is exploring his home, on my hand, or sometimes while eating. He mainly keeps them in alert position while eating to watch for predators. They droop down when Uyu is sleepy.
