Great video! Played this during the first 8 minutes of Inside Out 2 at full volume so the whole theater could hear this important message

Teens in my theater were mocking Hereditary and a woman yelled SHUT THE FUCK UP with all her anger and might. Omg i can still feel the silence that followed

My screening of Inside Out 2 was full of kids but to my surprise... they were the most well-behaved people in the theater. It was the parents talking full volume, on their phones, etc. What kind of example were they setting for their own children?

As a movie theater employee, please throw away your trash. The amount of people who just leave wrappers, cups, and popcorn bags without taking them to the trash (which is in the theater, btw!) is astounding

I will forever go watch movies by myself and look for the earliest screenings I can find. The people at a 10 am or 11 am screening on a Sunday morning, they're my kind of people.

Karsten, theater etiquette is not screaming “Play fantastic Mr Fox” for the entire duration of any movie that isn’t fantastic Mr. Fox.

Apple Watches also have a “theater mode” that deactivates the automatic turn on screen feature. You can still activate the screen while tapping.

I used to think screenings with empty audiences were awkward and lame and wanted to have those "everybody clapping and cheering" moments at popular movies, but ever since It: Chapter 2 was utterly ruined for me by a bunch of drunk teens yelling loudly, laughing or booing when anything gay happened I've been exclusively going to screenings when minors are at school or long asleep and I regret nothing lol

As a theater worker, rule 7 is the only one I try to make clear to everyone. Cleaning up a popcorn spill is no big deal at all, but having to pick up people trash they leave behind is the most frustrating thing ever. It doubles the time it takes to clean each theater.

My 60 yo mother told me how going to the movies was in her time: no phones, so people were fully present and even alcohol was sold right next to sodas but nobody caused drama. People wore their best garments and usually were very polite, it was the norm.

I went to see Furiosa A Mad Max Saga for a second viewing only to find a drunk guy falling on his seat several times, yelling excessively like a toddler who got lost in the mall looking for his mommy, he almost ruined the entire movie for the audience including me when he nearly opened the emergency exit door which btw would’ve caused an alarm to blare around the room thus ruining the off chances of us seeing the actual movie where we have to leave. Thankfully he found his way out of the theater never showing up again.

“Another banger, Karsten, thank you, ” we all say in unison

Karsten's hair is finally reaching "male character who only shows up at the last 10 minutes of an Eric Rohmer film" vibes

Some dude at my Inside Out 2 screening started laughing and clapping during the emotional climax and since no one was clapping with him his wife told him to shut up lmao

Also, watched debut of The Boy and the Heron (dubbed) at my local theatre.
Had the Beyonce IMAX concert movie blasting into the theatre while seeing this movie, the whole time.
The movie theatre doesnt even have etiquette anymore.

No but seriously, thank you for making this video! I've had so many bad movie experiences because people don't know how to use common sense anymore.

Whether it's being on your phone or talking during the film, just DON'T! Be respectful of the people around you. Heck, you paid for the movie too so why are you not paying attention yourself? Might as well just not have come to the theater if you're just going to be on your phone the whole time.

Also yes the mess that people leave behind is crazy! I've seen buckets of full popcorn and drinks spilled all over the floor like... did you forget how to eat in the 2 hours you were there? Someone has to clean that up, the least you can do is not leave it such a mess.

Same with going to see a play or musical, don't be screaming your head off during the entire performance like it's a concert. Let the actors/actresses finish before you clap and cheer.

On the deodorant point, another tip I have to give: if you wear perfume or cologne, please apply it lightly or just not at all when you're going to a movie. I've been seated right next to people with overwhelming fragrance and it chokes the life out of me. Theaters are small, closed-in environments, where aromas are amplified.

I recently experienced the worst offender of cinema etiquette. I went to watch the lord of the rings trilogy in theaters and this one lady showed up late, she was wearing a long scarf that when she walked through the aisle brushed on everyone in the row in front of us, she sat down and immediately said “oh my god this movie is disgusting”. She then began loudly making out with her boyfriend, before telling him that they have to leave. I’ve never seen a man so defeated, but I was so happy when I saw them go.

You missed a BIG one. This may not apply to EVERY film screening but it’s an issue where it does apply…

CONTROL YOUR I can’t stand it if I’m watching a family movie and the kids are acting like little gremlins and distracting everyone whilst the parents do nothing. In fact, this applies to any public area
