As the Easter long weekend begins, Australians are urged to lock in the gains against coronavirus by staying home.

Latest figures show the shutdowns are bearing fruit, with Australia recording its lowest rise in infections in almost a month – with 96 new cases recorded yesterday.

In the United States, New York continues to be hit hard by the coronavirus outbreak, with the state recording its highest increase of 799 deaths for a third consecutive day.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is now out of intensive care as Britain records a slightly lower daily death toll from the virus, with 881 people losing their lives.
