This song from the 4th album (untitled) was part of a 3-song acoustic set they performed for many years. It followed Bonhams long drum solo (Moby Dick) to give him a rest, and to slow it down and show off the band's diversity! The "Queen without a King" in the song, is the great Joni Mitchell who both Robert and Jimmy crushed on when they wrote this in 71. Joni once said of them, they were the only major act who admitted to listening to and enjoying her music. The music industry was ultra macho during the time, and many male stars would never admit to this!

Saw them in LA in 77 and they did this song and Stairway on tall stools in the spotlight. Like this video

Maggie, you win first prize for the number of interruptions during one song!

Both Robert&Jimmy have stated that this song is largely an ode to JoniMitchell -- who famously lived in LauralCyn, CA -- with a node to her Blue album's song "California." ☯

The great thing about the album version, is that it goes from that mellow, acoustic-y ending, into "Boom!... Bash!... Boom!... Bash!".
When the Levee Breaks next! 🤙😎

Robert Plant has toured for several years with Country-Blue Grass 27 Grammy award winner Allison Kraus. I saw them a year ago and it was brilliant. The king of Rock and Roll collides with the Queen of Blue Grass.

You should look into Robert's changing voice. The early years, then after surgery in '73 and then 77 and 79 after he adapted to his "new voice".

1975 was a tough year, he had the flu in the early part of the tour. Also Jimmy got his left hand smashed in a train door.

I love this song. I think it showcases another level of talent and how well they put music together even if it’s softer music. I always love your reactions

There are at least two other live acoustical Zeppelin songs you will without a doubt love are "Led Zeppelin - Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (Live at Earls Court 1975)" which is a tribute to Roberts dog at the time, and Led Zeppelin - That's The Way [Live at Earls Court 1975] (Official Video)

With this way of commenting, what a nice and imaginative melody is completely lost.
