Seriously. I’m raised in America second generation Ukrainian/Russian/Belarusian Jew who’s entire family at some point had to flee for their lives. Whether it was the pogroms or the Gestapo, their lives were shit. Whenever I think I have a problem, I remember that I don’t really have a problem. I’ll figure it out. I’m privileged, blessed, and lucky. Could’ve been a lot worse for me, and I’m so grateful.

Kids over-emphasize how the culture and way of life in first world countries are different than where their parents came from. At the end of the day, for most situations (not racist ones), they are wanting the best for their kids. In the same breath, it's about the relationship. Some consider my kids are spoiled wihle some consider my kids are too restricted. Well, which is it??? Actually, it doesn't matter - it's how my kids feel and they appreciate their life. Relationship over culture and intent.
