I just got one of these to match up with my FX3 and the results have been fantastic. A few things to note, there's an IBIS system in the FX30, it also has steadyshot which can be turned on/off in the quick menu. The 8-bit codecs might give you better battery life, but I shot with mine for over an hour and half out in the sun yesterday, and I had no issues with the battery life. After comparing it with my FX3 in everything other than low light, it's just as good. I hope you dig it. :) - Shane

The zoom switch still works with prime lens. Which is interesting I think. Makes for interesting shots.

And as far as battery goes. I usually turn mine off if I am not recording and one battery last me like 3 days. I use to shoot on a black magic and that battery was atrocious, this battery is more than enough if you just shut your camera off. I get leaving it on, but that’s not do or die.

Internal batteries in this kind of cameras is more of an addition for people upgrading from a mirrorless that have many batteries already. But for an actual shoot you´ll be better off using V-Mount or Gold Mount batteries, they are just better and power off the camera and accesories. I´m sure it has IBIS as well it´s just that is not really a feature for professional video since it´s prone to artifacting so the gyro stabilization in post is much better for situations where your material will be subjected to broadcast QC.

What lenses do you use with it buddy? I have an A7iii and primarily use it for photos for my business with the awesome Sigma 24-70 2.8. I’m going to be doing far more video and films for my business promotion now but the stabilisation has put me off using it for that. Don’t want to crack out a gimbal just to catch quick footage. I’ve been looking at the FX30, A7IV (used) but the A7S iii would be a dream, used. It’s just still too pricey. I’m very very keen to see the new Zv-E1 with that sensor. Of course the FX30 will be better built and better at cooling but that 12mp sensor just looks so good for video. I do prefer full frame but at the price, the Fx30 is just incredibly hard to pass on.
