Hello Buddies
Recently there has been a surge in people filming the release of their budgies to the wilderness.
They are killing their birds unwillingly.
THIS NEEDS TO STOP.
A captive bird will never survive in the wild.
Help share this video to spread the knowledge about this awful trend.

I was actually going to release my pet budgies because I felt like that was the right decision, but after watching this Ik I can’t let them go or else they’ll die. I’m really glade this video popped up cuz if I didn’t know about this, I would just let my birds go without knowing they would die within the day because of me

If your budgie escapes that's a different story but this is unethical

Man I can’t believe that nowadays there’s still a lot of dumb idiots that can never learn like they should literally not have access to buy a pet, can’t believe that there’s this type of stupidity going around with pet budgies

Releasing budgies in the wild? That is the same level of stupidity as leting a baby 'free' by leaving it on the street!

The ignorance of people is infuriating. Any normal thinking human should understand why this is a death sentence for the birds.

I found a Budgie near the trash in my building. I ended up keeping him because he is so small I couldn’t image him surviving on his own. I wasn’t sure at first but I think keeping him was the right thing. I never had a Budgie before and he has taught me a lot.

They're called pets for a reason. They're not like birds that can fly for hours and hours and search for food. I honestly don't know why this is a trend but it need to stop.

Fun fact!: Blue budgies that are born in the wild are usually rejected by the flock as they stand out to much!
Also this breaks my heart that so many peeps release their PET budgies into the wild were they don’t even know how to find their own food 😞

One time, one time, I showed a friend my budgies, and I left them in my backyard for some fresh air.
My friend, for some reason, decided that GRABBING MY GREEN BUDGIE AND RELEASING IT WAS A GOOD IDEA. They went upstairs and cried. They didn't even say sorry!!!

I got my budgie back tho, so yay!
I stopped being friends from that day forward

These fools should know that there is a difference between being domesticated and being WILD. Domesticated budgies mean that they will never ever be able to survive in the wild, while wild budgies mean that forests and the outdoors is their literal home. you can't just free domesticated budgies in thoughts that you're helping them and that they can be free now, without knowing the actual thing first. Thank you for letting people know what the right thing even IS :)

Our pet lovebird escaped from his cage but after few days, he came back. He had no choice, it's obvious that he's hungry so he went inside his cage for food and water.

I feel like it should just be common sense that your PET bird will DIE in the WILD.

A year ago, a family of wild tiny birds adopted a budgie. Winter was coming up, so my neighbor captured the budgie and has kept the budgie warm, safe and took good care of it to this day. edit: the budgie was taken to the vet and it turned out the budgie was domesticated and managed to survive in the wild.

A few weeks ago I was eating dinner when some movement catched my eye just outside my living room. There, stood on a tree, was a big bird (I still don't know if it was an eagle or something else) with a fluttering budgie in his mouth trying to break free from him. In a state of horror I dashed out to my balcony and threw a clothes peg at them to make the eagle let him go (it didn't hit them since they were a little bit further away from my house don't worry). The budgie broke free from him so he flew off right away. The eagle like bird was holding him in his beak by his wing so I very hopelessly hope that he didn't get injured badly and is alright. It was such a horrifying and devastating moment for me and I can't imagine what the budgie went through. To this day, I still can't get his helpless screams out of my head. I wish I could help him more than what I did but I couldn't. I have a budgie friend at my home and the thought of something similar happening to him is crushing me. Please please please be careful and never ever release your budgies thinking it is "good" for them. There are many dangers awaiting them in the wild and they are clearly not capable of dealing with them. The deadliest ones are starvation, predators such as cats and bigger bird species, injuries, diseases. Some may say what I did was intervening with "Nature's bussiness" but no it isn't. To begin with, they are domestic animals which are not supposed to live in that area. They don't know how to fend for themselves out in the wild. We took that capability from them long ago, breeding them in cages, and we can't expect them to survive by themselves now. So please DON'T RELEASE YOUR PETS INTO THE WILD. Take extreme measures such as installing fly screen on your windows and doors to prevent them from going out of your house by themselves. Love them and care for them properly. And if you think you can't, then don't even think about getting a pet in the first place! Lastly, don't buy, adopt!

I can't believe people get pet budgies before doing research. When I got my dog, I did 1 year of research and reading. I am glad you're here to educate people.

I just hate where people are just releasing their pet birds (budgies, cockatiels, cockatoos, etc) when they are clearly are domesticated and not a wild bird cause it’s doing more harm than good and it’s really sad to see this is happening 😔

It’s not like these birds even enjoy their short lived freedom. Birds that have lived all their life inside in a cage will likely find the outside world terrifying. Due to the limited space they have had to move around in all their life, they also have no where near the kind of stamina that wild birds have. They’ll be scared, tired and hungry before they die.

Birds who are domestic don't know how to live in the wild.
Don't do it!
How do they even let them go? I love my canary too much to do it
