The problem with the amount of sound barriers isnt because of corruption or tight regulation. The problem is that spatial planning isnt really a thing in Poland, so houses are scattered around the landscape. When building new highways, this causes the need to build those sound barriers everywhere, because in fact, houses are everywhere.

In many other European countries, buildings are more concentrated around one town or village, thus they dont need that many sound barriers, because they have more empty spaces without any buildings near the highways

btw you might check out the new Polish highways signage, which was implemented in some places, like S2 Warsaw South Transit Route (especially Ursynów Tunnel), it is a way more readable signage instead of those old-fashioned 1990s-like thing you encountered there.

Nice video! In a couple of years the S1 will be built between Mysłowice and Bielsko-Biała too. Then that ugly bend in the road will be gone. You should also do the “Zakopianka” between Kraków and Zakopane.

btw once upon a time I saw a Jaguar smashed against the barriers on "zakręt idiotów", and its owner was staring at a totaled car looking like "oh kurwa my €100, 000 had been lost"... That infamous bend has lots of victims, and tbh it's my guilty pleasure to look all those fails made by BMW knights (except for those fatal ones ofc).
