Watch it in slow mo - do you guys think he had Schneider had he been able to flip it over him?

A risky move to pull in a must win game - though he was 1 for 1 in the NHL prior to this using the Omark move

I agree - with the speed of his hands, the quick backhand to forehand is clearly his bread and butter.
His career totals are around 50%, and he uses that move far more than any other. Even when he misses he forces the goalie to make a tremendous save or he hits iron.

I am going to be working on making a video compilation of ALL his shootout attempts.

Agreed - although he was 1 for 1 using this move, it is a very risky move and we needed to win that game.
If we lose a playoff spot by 1 point I will remember this

Agreed - you gotta wonder if he thought this may be his last shootout move in the NHL.

Yeah the announcers were talking about how he's been missing the net wide - and Datsyuk has been getting noticeably frustrated (looking skyward) which he normally never does.

There was a play in the Vancouver game where passed off when he clearly should have shot. I agree he needs to shoot more.

I think that if he adds that element, he will be all the more deceptive in that defenders will have to play the shot, and with Datsyuk's quick moves he can change his mind last second and dish it off.

I know he's been experimenting with new moves but I'm not a fan. This one was a fail, and I also don't like the one where he comes in real wide. I think the best one is where he goes straight in and then either goes with a quick backhand or does a hefty backhand deke and pulls it back for a quick forehand.

I'll be very sad if that actually happens, I just hope they make the playoffs, they really need a win vs La Kings tonight!! Go Wings! Go Datsyuk I think he needs to shoot the puck more often, what is your take on this? He is an unselfish player and that is something that I admire but he needs to shoot more often and he also needs to hit the net I've seen him miss the net wide quite often these last couple of matches.

puase at 0:48 i think it was a 50/50 chance if the puck didnt flip on him

Although Schneider was in position to make the save he would have gotten a lot more power on it if it didn't flip up on him

No, I don't think so Schneider was in a great position, would have been really hard for Datsyuk to flip it over him when he was in a great position. I don't agree with Datsyuks choice to go with this risky penalty, it is too risky imo would have loved to see just a standard Datsyukian deke or his backhand forehand move.
