Metal Gear Solid 2 : Solidus Snake's hidden last words

Something i noticed a few years ago in MGS2 but that not many people talk about...

I think the fact that we don't hear Solidus' last words was an intentional creative choice.

His main character motive was trying to leave behind a legacy. He couldn't do it through his genes, on account of him being designed to be infertile by the Patriots, so he tried to do it through his memes.

But the Patriots denied him that opportunity too, with him being killed by Raiden, who was acting as their pawn, and his final message to the world being unheard.

John Cygan (voice of Solidus) stated that Solidus' last words were "Jack, I'm proud of you.".

I read that according to John Cygan Solidus was saying « I’m proud of you, Jack ».

In MGS2 Substance there’s a CD containing all the scenes of the game which allows you to move the camera at every angle which was a great opportunity to look directly Solidus’ face while he’s saying these muted lines.

It might have something to do with the cut flag symbolism. For those of you who don't know (although if you're here you probably do) the game was developed before; but released after the 9/11 attacks in 2001. As a result: a sequence of Arsenal Gear crashing into New York visually was cut, as well as a lot of American flags in the last fight between Raiden and Solidus. You can see some of it here in this cut scene; seemingly random flag poles here and there in the shots with no flags on them. Solidus is reaching for a "flag" as he falls, as well as Raiden's vertical cutting motion when Solidus is at the foot of the statue. Raiden is meant to be cutting a flag down to drape over the body of Solidus, a sign of respect for the burial of a president. It might have been weird for Solidus to mention something about the flag symbolizing liberty where no flag was present, so the audio was just cut.

My personal head canon is that what he said was "Whoever wins, our battle does not end."

Which was first sentence in speech that Big Boss gave to Snake in end of Metal Gear 2. "The loser is free from the battlefield, but the winner must remain there and the survivor must live his life as a warrior until he dies."

Wasn't his last words were "I'm proud of you, Jack." ? I heard or read this somewhere I'm sure. I don't know if it's true or not but it makes sense to me.
