Nintendo is Just Trolling Me Now: Pokémon Direct Reaction

The recent Pokémon Nintendo Direct brought us Pokémon on the Switch and a new version of Sun and Moon. But no, it's not how you wanted them...

4th gen fans were salty as hell. Not only were there no remakes but 4th gen were the only games not on the shelf lol.

The good news is that during the Nintendo Spotlight for E3 2017, they said that they were developing a main Pokemon game for the Switch. However, it will take one or two years to launch that Pokemon game.

Personally I think they could of done both but I'm glad it's 3ds. Too poor to afford switch ATM.

I don't know if you played the older Pokemon games but it's always been like this. They don't make the "3rd version" or "updated version" from a generation on a different system before. Crystal wasn't on the GBA, Emerald wasn't on the DS, Black/White 2 wasn't on the 3DS, so how should Ultra Sun/Moon be on the Switch when their original games were on the 3DS?

1) not everyone has a Switch. It just came out. Why not wait a year after more people have the Switch so that Pokemon sales would be more guaranteed?

2) GameFreak already has the assets and engine on the 3DS, it wouldn't make sense for them to waste time on making a port for the Switch. It would simply cost more from a business perspective

3) Also from a business perspective and a consumer like myself, it would be more proper and appropriate to have Pokemon be introduced on a NEW system with a NEW generation, not a port from an OLD generation from an OLD system.

You're only looking at things from the present, you're not taking into consideration about the future retrospectively. If anything, Ultra Sun/Moon will only hurt sales and hype for Pokemon's future during the Switch life cycle a couple years from now.

Considering that E3 is literally next week and the fact that the direct was only 8 minutes long, I didn't expect too much. The biggest surprise was seeing pokemon silver coming to the 3DS. That was the last Pokemon game I played for a long time. I tried to get back into the series with Y and Sun, but neither of those games really grabbed my interest for long. Maybe revisiting Silver will help? I dunno...

Sorry for the ramble. My point was that this direct was exactly what I expected; a direct that has some small announcements and nothing too exciting.
