Yes, John Barry was a genius at his work. He brought passion, solitude, understanding, and reverence to his music. I listen to this and it brings back memories old but not forgotten. I see young men in battle, and those that didn't return. The heroes of Vietnam are many...most of whom we will never know. They are the silent ones, the ones we should never forget...theirs was the ultimate sacrifice.

John Barry was overshadowed by his Big Bond scores sadly, because his more personal material is so so romantic. I could die to this & be at peace for eternity. I listen to his music & shudder to think there will never be more material from him. That's it. My heart feels like stopping. But then I wake up the next day, & realise the true meaning of these songs. To celebrate each new moment renewed. John was truly a genius. I love his work.
