It is SOO easy to lose motivation with studying which is why it’s important to make studying a habit, not something you only do when you’re feeling motivated. Thanks for the tips Ruby! 🙏🏽💛

The perfectionism thing and editing line by line was exactly what I did and Ruby is complete right. My way of getting round that was to hand write my essays. Because I was handwriting, I would obviously have to type it all up afterwards, and so it functionally separated the writing and the editing, so when I was typing, the meat was done and THEN I could edit them sentence by sentence or paragraph by paragraph. I also found it gave me the freedom to jump around the essay and write out of order and just get the good ideas down (something I really struggled with when writing directly onto a word doc). I used felt tip pens because they're really good for fast movements (vs a thinner point pen) and I colour coded by sections I thought I wanted that paragraph to go in so there was some order in the word soup.

Honestly, saved my masters, I wrote every essay AND my 14k word dissertation this way.

This is exactly what I was talking about today with my mom, the fact that I have troubles to start studying and stick to a schedule and that I will need to find solutions for the next semester/ next school year
Can't wait to see the video! Thank you Ruby 🌻

I love the perspective that your first draft of anything doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s comforting knowing that I’m not the only one who stresses about making every word count!! Thank you for all the study tips Ruby!!

10:25 thank you, Ruby for making me realize my problem! because this past week, I had to submit 2 long drafts and I was just sitting in front of my laptop, writing and deleting it, which resulted in not having them done AT ALL! You can't imagine the stress I've experienced. Perfectionism in essay writing is HELL! thanks, ruby (and thanks to IB for making my life miserable)

So nice to hear that you too spent a long time on essays at univeristy! I've had essays for the last two weeks which we've been given 24hrs to complete, which allows for too much time for me to write it!! My inner perfectionist has shone through!!! :')

I'm in the midst of exams and it's generally quite stressful with the expectations that I have of my grades. Especially since I'm in my second year which means that these grades contribute to my overall degree mark. So the end of this video really hit me and gave me more perspective to be kinder to myself and I'm just really thankful for that ❤ Good luck to everyone who's currently having exams, I'm sure we'll all do our best!
