Ithacan Unit Roster Guide: Total War Saga Troy

NOTE: I will not be covering the details of the mythic units of each faction because all of the factions have access to every mythical unit in the game. All you need to do to gain access to them is to occupy a settlement that contains a special building for that mythical unit. I will be making a separate mythical unit roster guide soon!

Today, we dive into the details of the Odysseus's unit roster. You'll get to know the basic strengths and weaknesses of each unit and what role best suits them. Also, we cover a basic Ithacan army composition for the mid-game. Odysseus has access to so many different skirmishing javelin units, and they are insanely strong if used properly. Make sure you work on your army micro-managing skills if you want to use his armies to their fullest potential!

Odysseus's roster focuses on stealthy fast-moving units which can be best utilized for outflanking and rear charges while the mainline is strong enough to hold the enemy.

My late game line-up:
8x Warriors of Ithaca
8x Guerrilla stalkers (or Harpy Fiends (upgraded harpies which have Vanguard Dep.))
4x Medium Chariots (turned to melee)

Vanguard deploy everything in their face and charge their entire line so they don't have time to react. While your Warriors of Ithaca pin their entire line, flank with javelins and pick off individual front line units. This will apply morale debuff to their key frontline units and your line will break their line. Keep their range units from firing with your chariots. You can mop up with every unit because they are all very fast.

If they have more reinforcing armies, you can often pick off reinforcing armies first because of vanguard deployment. Specially if you attack an army that is further away from you on the map. In this case, reinforcing army spawns behind you, so you can deal with it first.

Nice. But I thought they were fixing to fight. Would like to see actual fight. Like in a campaign battle on normal.

Due to Odys location, he also gets access to Harpy and Siren. So my early-mid game (tier 3) roster is:

Back line = 2 Siren + 2 Archer. 2 Harpy. 2 Heavy Sword Skirmishers.

Flank = 4 Light Sword Skirmishers. 4 Example Ambushers.

Support = 2 Spear Runner. 1 Mythical (random after completing a quest to get 250 favor from a deity).
