Nostalgia, some form of character deformation, blood, some form of "hyper realism" the game speaking to the player, bootleg games, demonic characters/ demonic iconography A bunch of clichés I've noticed with creepypastas. Add some more if you can think of any.

Honestly, video game creepypasts are way scarier to me, if they're more realistic. When the game doesn't do things that it very obviously CAN'T do. Like that first one. I could totally believe the the game was being glitchy, and the snow had a redish hue to it and stuff. Colors glitch out in games all the time. I could also believe the enemy textures and colors could glitch out to almost look like something "demonic". Ya know, enemies being red with black eyes or something, I dunno. Totally possible. BUT, when the game switches to a first person camera (that isn't actually coded into the game), Cortex starts talking to the player, by name, and all these weird cutscenes and animations that aren't programmed anywhere in the game...starts happening....then it just starts to sound ridiculous and dumb to me. Any creepiness it might have had goes right out the window.

It's so much creepier when said creepy stuff happens within the actual parameters of what the game can do. Stuff that COULD actually happen to real copy of the game.

Ok NOW my childhood is also had a copy of Crash 1, but on a computer.I was stuck at the level where a giant boulder was rolling behind Crash and you have to play more these, u guys are good
