When you said, "well you know we're making drawings of Jesus, but as long as you don't bow down and worship them then it's okay". I was Catholic before you led me to be saved with the bible version issue video. I was told, "its ok to have images and statues as long as you don't worship them." I was keeping them to have a place to worship in my house, Thank you for helping me get rid of them when I noticed that you had no images or statues around your house, so i got rid of all of them. I know now that my prayers are heard everywhere I go because the Holy Spirit is always here within me. Once does not even need to make a graven image for it to be a sin. When we hold to a false image of who he is in our heart and mind it is also a sin.

Dear Bryan Denlinger, As an artist, many, many years ago, I went through a lot on this topic. I struggled with what was acceptable to paint or not: The Creator (Jesus), religious paintings, drawings, etc., or Creation...whales, birds, flowers, etc. And no matter how I prayed or pondered, I always realized it was better for those viewing my work to see religious paintings. Just like Romans 14. Over time, I was amazed when I realized that the Lord Jesus wanted people to embroider angels on the tabernacle curtains, put two angels on the Mercy Seat, etc. When I consider what the Lord said in not making graven images and bowing down to them, is idolatry when one is making themselves a god, a self-pleasing god, like where the Bible talks about those foolish people who take a tree trunk and use part of it to make a graven image, use the other part to build a fire for their food, nail their statue to a base so it won't fall over, and tell it then to save them (you know the nail it down part too), and the foolishness of it all. The thing is, Jesus was clearly seen in our world. I believe all the artists all around the world, whether they paint HIM with more melanin (pigment) or not, or actually comparable to what the artist or their culture can relate to, the artist typically is hoping to achieve the look of a loving God with compassionate eyes, love, in whatever way they envision. When the internet was young, I had noticed a person that had set up a website containing likely more than 600 images of Jesus, and some were very graphic of the torture Jesus endured. I thought it all was so loving. However, I do know that there are individuals today trying to make a point and push all the elements in painting Jesus to make Him look like an airhead with both eyes a little off, and all that—to make HIM look like that. But for the most part, I do believe artists who paint religious pictures simply honor the Lord Jesus in the best way they can to Glorify Him and make Him known. Even more, I believe that the Shroud of Turin is an Image of Jesus, for most scientists agree this Image is not made by paint or man-made, and other evidences that are amazing. Furthermore, I am ever seeing for quite some time, Christians who are talented and creative are condemned by a lot of other Christians. It is like, How dare you paint what we don't like! How dare you play music we don't like! How dare you write fiction honestly and offend everyone. We demand that you write shallow stories with nothing not even sometimes Godly messages that might offend us. You are only allowed to write stories that will not offend or move us or anything that might offend any other denomination either, like writing about a miracle or something of that nature either, let alone write something serious that might offend; your story should be like a ghost in a shell—don’t offend anyone and write something so non offensive that no one will read it because nothing happens and it is so boring that no one will ever finish it. So, you will quit writing basically for that is what Church members hope for the creative writer in their congregation…all that foolish nonsense…the nerve to be creative or use their talents!!. For some time I have seen this punishment put on the people God gave talent to. It is like we, the creative, are just waiting to die. But take a moment to consider the Tabernacle which had visuals. Was it not sacred? Today, many churches have nothing sacred, and people are NOT viewed as sacred either. If people are treated sacredly, I believe a lot would change. I think that is also a discovery I made so long ago...the Lord Jesus made unique individuals and it is quite the opposite of what many think, that is, to conform. Imagine the strength of the Church if all denominations brought to the Table Bible Truths...how strong we would be. As it is, all these denominations have broken us down to fragments, where some doctrines get emphasized but others get downplayed, and because of the hostility of it all, people are left on the pavement dying somewhere, heartbroken. Because of being offended condemning is encouraged by many. Strangely, the Bible says Love casts out all fear. Through the years I have known a bunch of people who have said either their home looks like a shrine of religious objects or others would not dare to put a tiny angel statue in their living room. Some people call the religious objects, friendly reminders. Others have a different view entirely. It is the heart, and Jesus wants our heart. If we are to love, the last thing we should ever do is offend those that belong to Jesus too, per Romans 14, yes? The struggle is real, , but Jesus is our Rest.

Totally agree .I discarded all of my artwork when I realized this. When the Israelites formed the golden calf, it was supposed to be an image of God.God does not change.His word stands.

I was reading in Exodus 20:4 Kjv as I was reading, I asked the Lord what does it mean that you shall not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath...then this ornament I had in my house came to memory ...it was porcelain statue of Jesus with scripture & it played music...Lord wanted me to throw it out ...even though it expensive...he said NOT to sell it or GIVE it away because it is a cursed thing & you don't want bring a curse upon anyone else. It is currently packed in my storage unit. Whenever I move & find it in my stuff, I'm going to throw it out. Also, my ex boyfriend had a statue of a dragon, this came to memory also, it was referring to - have that of the earth beneath because it represented Satan, that old dragon. Rev 12:3
Thank the Lord I came upon this video because in Bible study I shared about this, the pastor was questioning if it was specifically meant for me or everyone. I told him I believe everyone, he questioned it, then today it made me think maybe it was me thinking that, but I asked Lord again show me if that was Him talking to me about what came to my mind about porcelain ornament of Jesus, then I came upon your video & it confirmed that it was Lord revealing this to me. Thank Holy Spirit who reveals spiritual things to us we unknowly do to correct us.

I enjoy drawing and art, but I've always felt wrong trying to draw Jesus in light of the fact that He is God and cannot be depicted by art or graven images made by men. I admit, I have drawn depictions of Christ before, but I've always felt wrong for it. Today, I just stick to drawing normal things without God or idols being in them.

Art by itself is fine, but leave the image of God out of it.
