Passive Infrared Receiver (PIR) sensor review, test & how to use

After using a PIR module with limited capability, I found these with customizable settings. Watch to see if they are any good.
Notes: I measured standby current at only 30 uA. These have a port that you can solder in a light sensor.

I was shopping for some PIR sensors for a Feline Intrusion Detector Object (FIDO) to keep Boris, my mischievous cat, from wreaking havoc on my bookshelf late at night. Imagine my surprise when I found a link to this video! Envistia Mall are still in business and still selling these cool widgets. Glad I have your expert guidance to help me get my FIDO up and running!

Hi there! I must say I just stumbled upon your channel a few hours ago and I cannot stop watching!
It’s like a mirror image of the things i am working on at the moment. I really enjoy getting some dollar store Knick knacks and removing the different modules/leds /boards etc from them and just tinkering and making my own projects with them. If you can respond I would just like to talk and have a few questions for you. Not dumb questions, really technical type. Thanks so much and thanks for all your works. I’m learning enough to get over the hump I’ve seems to been stuck on for a few months now. Peace! -From Texas

(Interesting wall-lamp position upstairs - mid-wall... I mount mine on the floor.)

Envistia Mall's 103-some products seem reasonably priced. They certainly highlight the "ship-from-US-warehouse" thing. Whether or not there are foreigners behind this place, what matters to most of us (I think) is good selection & pricing, and, yes, quick shipping. They have a way to go in the selection department. Now with Radio Shack closing, even if we were willing to pay premium, we can't any more. Que sara. We appreciate your finding and recommending Envistia.

Hi John, Thankyou for all the great reviews and recommendations you make, I take your word for it. Yes, it's about the performance of the LM1875 that I'm impressed with too. Love your channel. All American Five Radio, Rick, built a push/pull audio amp using a 2n2222 NPN for the driver and a TIP 31 NPN, and TIP 42 PNP, cross over diodes, any silicon diode is o.k. per Rick. His is running 24 volts, I would like to use 12 volts. I'm going to use Ohm's Law and take voltage measurements to re-bias the transistors. Maybe you could build the circuit and do an output test, I would be curios what it is for watts. Take care, C.

Hi John, Perhaps you already know you can use Dark Detecting Circuit to activate the PIR at sundown, saving your PIR battery. Electronics N More has a video about same. Thought you might be interested. May not be necessary. Be good, C.

Think it would be okay to use a 2N3904 NPN transistor with a little buzzer or alarm?
Thank you for taking the time to record, edit and post this great little review/tutorial.
You just got another subscriber.
Cheers brother

Just out of curiosity, is the PIR module using a BISS0001 as it's control chip?

How to reduce the delay time from 5 seconds to 1 second, or even stop triggering as soon as object moves away.
I tried shorting R13 and R33- no luck.

Awesome video, some of it went over head, but im still learning, what transistor would you recommend to run a 2w led

I looked at the details and it says temperature range down to -15C. Pretty much means won't work in the winter where I live!

why does it claim to have 0.3s time delay then actually has a 3 second time delay?

Please help me
If in the circuit shown in 8:45, i want to use a mini vibration motor(coin type) in place of led at the output, what should i do? The vibration motor has ratings of 3V

Hello, thanks for the video. I am trying to use this sensor to light up a strip of 5v leds. I am using 5v power supply. I am doing exactly what you have showed but the problem is that Leds lit very dim. I have checked the output voltage and it is around 3 volts. I am using BC547 transistor. How do I fix it and get full brightness from Leds? Btw I do not anything about electronics :)
