You forgot to mention that the SSD of the baseline M1 Mac Mini is much faster (2x 128MB chips) than the baseline M2 Mac Mini (1x 256MB chip). This has a huge effect on file transfers and copying of files.

NEVER been an Apple person but their silicone architecture and performance have seriously warranted me second guessing getting a Macbook or Mini body of late. Always love the customizability and modularity of PCs but the performance of M1 chips for video editing (which is how I make my living) has made me appreciate ARM architecture in comparison to X86.

I bought mine for 450 and I used it professionally.
It can totally do the job. 8K video is where you can notice the thermal throttling, advance Fusion fx and 3d animations will not run smoothly. But it can do 90% of your needs parallel to its price. Apple spoiled us so much to the point that i can no longer work on a mid tier build pc because it feels slow.

Its the same thing as the Macbook Air, it is so powerful but once it started to heat up it will decrease its performance by 20% i say

I’m currently looking to get the M1 with 16Gb RAM and 512Gb SSD. This is the same price as the M2 base upgraded on one option only. For my needs, I think the M1 will last me well for a long time.

This is some really bad apple fan service. Best value at the time it was released, late 2020, yes. Now with the Beelink SER6, Miniforum UM790, and Intel NUC 13 Pro it is a different story. Especially with adjustable RAM and SSD that non-MAC mini-PCs offer.
