I Gotta tip!! Use circle hooks. They always catch the fish in the corner of the mouth. Strongest part of the mouth so you lose less fish. Easiest to get the hook out without damaging the fish for return to the sea & ALWAYS use a wet cloth when handling the fish!! Easier to grip & causes less damage again if returning it to the sea.

Use sinkers that have corners (square or pyramid) so they dig into the sand, never round sinkers.

That's my tip.

My wife worked for Pure Fishing long time ago and she said fishing lures are designed to catch the fisherman. Good tips, thanks.

Fantastic video!!! Really well done!!! Some additional tips might be effectively working structure: map topography (changing depth lines), piers, passes, jetties, cuts, weedlines, bridge pylons, points, rocky bottoms vs soft bottoms (mud, sand, etc.); also: using live bait vs. dead bait, best bait rigs, when to use octopus/circle hooks vs. std. "J" hooks, fishing egg floats and balloons floats. Keep up the great work!

things you missed:-
(i) Elasticated bait cotton to secure baits to the hook. Using this allows any bait to be used even if its soft like shell fish and be able to cast it without it falling off. It also means you can start making bait cocktails where you can mix any selection of fish, squid, worm and shell fiah baits
(ii) Instead of those tubes, you can use tripods or sand spikes. Sand spikes are like thoses tubes, but they have a pointed end so you can really get them into the ground easily
(iii) Use rigs where the baited hook clips to the rig before the cast and releases when it hits the water. The most basic one is known as a pulley rig and plenty of videos about it.
(iv) For beach fishing use a 12ft plus rod capable of casting upto 6oz. This means that if you need extra distance because that gulley is further out, its far easier to get distance on a longer more powerfull rod. But you must be able to bend the rod in the cast so find one that is powerfull, but still forgiving enough so it bends when your casting

I also like to fish the first cut at night. No matter how shallow it is. Those big red's at night sometimes will get as close to the shore as possible. I have caught a thirty nine inch red in water that was barely six inches deep at night

Sick video man. I grew up fishing the rice canals and beaches around Galveston. I totally agree with catching your own bait. Moving to Cancun for a few months soon so I'm stoked to get back at it.

Great video. I've fished the surf a lot. This is a personal opinion but you don't really need a super heavy rod to fish on the beach. I'm mean if you are shark fishing yeah you need a big heavy duty rod. But I've caught some big fish on a medium set up. I'm not saying that surf rods are bad but I feel like there is a stigma that you have to have one. When I go we carry 6 rods that range between medium and heavy. We do fine catching bigger fish.
