Jean-Michel Jarre (Trailer OXYMORE)

It is truly a tribute to the roots of the french electronic music & electroacoustic music which had a major influence on my early studies at the GRM and really how we are producing music today. The soul of the album is also a tribute to Pierre Henry, who was one of the foundational 20th century giants of electronic music: he explored solfeggio notes v’s noise bites in audio spatialization before it was thought of. When he departed, I was very moved by the fact that he left some sounds to me for a future project that he thought relevant.
Pierre Henry inspired me to create an album using the old analog techniques I studied, but linked to the future by using spatial audio technique already and foremost at the composition stage.
OXYMORE is probably the first album of this inception, where the entire creative process was build around immersive sound arrangement and production. I am very grateful for Dolby Atmos allowing me to use their tools, hijacked from cinema, to share this piece of music.
I also thank Radio France to have offered me their Studio Innovativation space to work in and push the boundaries of audio creation.
I am really convinced that the Multi-Channel and Binaural sound formats are the future of music and new creativity, production & emotional experiences.

The discovery of the music of Pierre Henry through this project has been the greatest thing in 2022, to me. In his musical language, as strange as it may sound (and as strange as it is echoed in JMJ's new album), Pierre Henry was a genius just like Beethoven... Lifting in his compositions the material he used (not notes, but noises) to a higher, almost spiritual level...

For me Oxymore is one of the most interesting, surrealistic, albums ever. Listening yesterday and today the whole day. This is an mind blowing experience. I have feeling that I'm listening someone's dream, that I'm in another dimension.

Another thing... I'm very sad that many people freezed in 1980's and 90's.... Our world changes extremely fast. And the electronic music the only style which is under constant change, because each day you see invention of new electronic instrument. And I admire Jean Michel Jarre very much, as I admire Miles Davis, because both of them always trying something new and changing game rules.

I would be very sad, if JMJ copy-paste himself during decades.

And the last thing. I think this album is genuine Jarrian album. Very honest and pure...
