Only troopers wash their carriers. Deputies sweat excellence

I wear a concealed vest at work and regularly spray it with “Arrest My Vest”. Spraying it after I get off shift and before I put it on works pretty well.

*1) wash your carrier in disinfecting dishwasher soap. use Lysol laundry sanitizer in the rinse cycle. 2)wipe down your panels with an anti-bacterial wipe.* I do this monthly and I never stink. I also use the same regimen on my uniforms for every wash and never stink.

I once bought a really stinky ass used leather jacket. The previous owner must have smoked a lot in it. I tried a trick that apparently people in the theater industry use which is to spritz cheap ass bottom shelf vodka on it. It worked a treat for me and completely removed all the stank. Best part was I also got to drink some vodka when I was done.

Truly, the sprays do nothing. I’ve heard some guys swear by putting drier sheets in between the front and back of the vest before hanging it up. Lately I’ve just been finding an anything to wedge between the front and back before hanging it up, just to get some air in there. It’s not ideal but better than nothing. Washing is the only real way. Then you end up sweating all over it first day back anyway...

i spray lysol disinfectant spray, it smells good and a lot of the odor is caused by bacteria which lysol kills but i do try to wash my vest at least 1 or 2 times a month

I hand wash my carrier, and wipe the plates with disinfecting wipes. Never had a problem with the smell. The only detriment is fading .

New job, New armor, New smell....kinda like rotting garbage. My old stuff just smelled like mild b.o. This is a whole new level of funk.

The stink is real. I use the lysol non bleach anti-bacterial liquid in my wash. I also use the yummy tide pods, and the smell good beads. I wipe the armor panels itself with warm soap and water and anti-bacterial wipes.
I wear an undershirt, then vest, then uniform shirt. I dont have an outer carrier. That's next on my list. I have to also remove the trauma plate and stab plate out.

Sometimes I stink without wearing body armor (lol).

Can you do a review of the Arrest My Vest Spray? The guy who invented febreeze created it specifically for vests/officers, and works differently than Lysol or febreeze.

Those tan, sand, and black colored 2nd gen Merrell boots; the pair on the left side, are on my top 3 list for the best fitting boots ever made in this planet.

I know of a Composite Material when applied to any threat level of Soft Body Armor it will resist the Bodies Oils and Acids and Stink! This same composite material when applied JUST to the Ballistic Fabric will also reflect the U/V Radiation and will add re-enforcement to the ballistic fibers I have a level 3A Vest that was given to me back in 1995 by the Sheriff's Dept. I immediately laminated the vest and later tested it in 2015. A .45 hp was fired into the vest at 10' and the round was Mushroomed and protruded from the 2nd layer of Kevlar. This also means that MOST all Ballistic Fabrics (exotic) as well can be laminated to improve ballistic performance and keep the Stink away. The inner carrier should be Velcroed so the panels themselves can be removed and wiped down.

Putting the vest in a container with rice of a night removed odors, it removes the moisture from the vest which also weakens it. After it is dry sprinkle it with baking powder, occasionally blast the vest with air to remove excess powder.
