A survivor of US Airways Flight 1549, which crash landed in the Hudson river, Dave has had the unique experience of surviving a plane crash. Traumatic events such as plane crashes can have a devastating impact on one’s psychology. Dave, through the the lessons he has learned in his life, has been able to grow despite going through a traumatic event, a phenomena known as post-traumatic growth syndrome or PTGS. Dave hopes to share his story on how others can also overcome their own traumatic experience or as he likes to call it “personal plane crash” by preparing for them before they happen.

Since the Miracle on the Hudson, considered to be the most successful ditching in aviation history, Dave Sanderson has built a career as a motivational speaker, mentor and author. In his presentations, he shares and teaches “The 12 Resources to create your own Personal Flight Plan,” precepts that enabled him to become a top producer in some of the largest sales organizations in the world and ultimately enabled him to survive the plane crash. In addition to being a top sales producer, he was Director of Security for Internationally renowned speaker, Tony Robbins.

Sanderson has appeared at countless fundraisers that have raised over $8.56 million for the American Red Cross. He continues to donate his speaker services to the organization as an expression of gratitude for the care he received from the first person he saw after he was rescued and transferred to land in New Jersey: a Red Cross volunteer with a blanket.

I recently discovered the concept of PTGS after watching a Tony Robbins YouTube video. And I had experienced a very deep emotional, mental & spiritual growth after the loss of my best friend and mother in 2007. I felt the same as you have Dave and it propelled me into a different career, genuine appreciation for life and my interactions with others and a very strong connection with the Divine. My challenge over 10 years later is that I have a hard time feeling that strong connection with my wife because I feel like she doesn’t understand me, complains about things that seem insignificant to me and I don’t feel that same depth of a connection with her. So yes, I’ve grown a lot and continue to, and I have so much to offer others but it’s difficult for me to connect deeply with my wife.

This explains a LOT about the changes I have been going through the past 2 years, after my "Plane-Crash". Thank you!

Good talk, Dave. Not easy to do! Interesting subject---rather than being held down by events, it is possible to turn them into constructive outcomes.
