On a note separate from the gameplay, the refs in this game were lights out, and didn't seem to show any bias. I don't think I disagreed with a single call. Quite possibly the best officiating I've ever seen.

That was a very good call on the ref with the fumble. His knee was on the BYU player arms never on the ground. Not sure why he tried to lateral while falling…

The defense played AMAZING, absolutely carried this game. Even though they did clutch up at the end, man that offense needs work. We need to get it together or it’ll be a ROUGH week 11

Our defense looked elite in this one, definitely carried. Without LJ I'm a little concerned, but Miles is underrated, and we still somewhat managed without our starting RB. Jake reverted to 2023 Jake---being responsible for 3 turnovers in a game like this is unacceptable---he's lucky the defense showed out today. Gerry is a better runner and athlete, supposedly Jake could throw better and took good care of the ball, but I think Gerry could do better in games, Jake can't handle pressure situations yet. Gerry is certified, and a good game manager at the least, with a defense like ours, that might be all we need.

A lot of bad football was played tonight.

so the past 3 games have shown, SMU is gonna have the same problems UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston had last year. G5 players can’t just move to a P5 conference and be immediately great, BYU was independent before so they had a good mixture and a taste of Big-12 football while going 2-7 last year. it’s weird though because the hype was coming on, SMU raised $180+ million dollars in the offseason. i’ll give it the couple years while the ACC is having a change of guard.
