Despite your point, this is exactly a popularity contest. That's the point of this. People vote for their favorite thing. There isn't a group of people that say "Well, this won for Game of the Year, but we think this game is better."

Just because they got their player base to vote for them doesn't mean they bribed anyone. Maybe you should make accusations somewhere else?

Just goes to show you that these awards aren't about quality, but simply about popularity and getting (Bribing, in WoT's case) your player base to actually vote.
I like WoT a lot, and I'm not a fan of LoL. That doesn't mean WoT is better than LoL though, or that WoT should win awards in categories they don't even belong in.

Golden Joystick became a pointless award, when #1 and #2 in the MMO category weren't even MMOs. Good job on making yourselves irrelevant, GJ Awards. ;)
