LIGHTNING LANE - SINGLE PASS AND MULTIPLE PASS

- Disney recently announced a complete overhaul of it's Lightning Lane and Disney Genie+ service, which came into effect on July 24. It's sort of a merge of the recent system with the older fastpass+ system. The Genie+ service will now be called Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and the Individual Lightning Lane Selections service will be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass. Instead of only being able to purchase and make reservations on the day, guests will now instead be able to do all this in advance of their day of visit. Resort guests will be able to plan up to 7 days in advance, for their entire trip, and non resort guests can plan up to 3 days in advance.

- NEW LIGHTNING LANE MULTI PASS - you can make up to 3 lightning lane selections in a theme park in advance (and choose the times). When making the reservations, you can make one reservation from the the tier 1 list of attractions, and two selections from the tier 2 list of attractions. On the day of your visit, once you use a selection, you can check the app for availability to make an additional selection.

- As mentioned in the video, for those staying at a Disney World Resort, it’s recommended that you book Hollywood studios and Magic Kingdom towards the end of your trip. The reason is that these parks contain the most sought after multi pass reservations (Tiana’s, Slinky etc). So the further those parks are into your trip, the less competition you will have for picking up those lightning lanes, because you can book from 7 days of the first day of your trip, so you can technically book a slinky dog dash reservation 17 days before you plan to visit that park, assuming you have a 10 night stay, and assuming you booked Hollywood Studios on the last day. It's worth mentioning that there’s a 10 night cut off though for this perk.

- NEW LIGHTNING LANE SINGLE PASS - This is going to operate very similar to the lightning lane selection service, as discussed in the video, but you'll be able to purchase passes in advance.

We stayed at universal and spent one day at Hollywood studios - if you're doing the same and have limited time there, I'd recommend getting the lightning pass for rise of the resistance, runaway railway and slinky or be prepared to wait a very long time to get on them.
A good tip for Fantasmic is to get one of the dinner / show combo deals. We ate at the sc-fi dine in theatre and got reserved seats in the middle section for fantasmic.

Fantastic, as always! Heading to HS on Saturday and this is my hype. Definitely hitting runaway railway first. I did that last time and walked right on, then walked on to Toy Story Mania which I arguably prefer to Slinky Dog.

Another wonderful video, just got back from Disney after a week of fun in sun, you are absolutely right about those LL passes there a waste of money we found that wait times were inflated and many of the rides almost walk ons.Except the big attractions like 7Dwarfs, flight of passage, expedition everest. The rest no more than 30 minutes.

Hi Frugal, I love your videos. We watched them in 2022 for our, then, Florida trip. We’re watching again in prep for our planned holiday in 2026. Keep em’ coming!
Just a note on visiting Animal Kingdom later in the day. I did re-enter the park shortly before closing during our visit in August 2022. I just wanted some semi-night time shots in Pandora expecting to be kicked out. I ended up being there well after it had gone dark and the cast members weren’t making an effort to move guests out when I left (around 7ish). This may have changed but perhaps there is some leniency for anyone already in the park after the official closing time.

Just got back from Orlando a couple of days ago, had the most magical time of my life. The only downside actually made it better, because loads of rides were breaking down while we we were on or in the queue for them, we received quite a few fast passes.

When we visit WDW we tend to go the last 2 weeks of the UK summer holidays, we've never as of yet (🤞) had to deal with massive queues, most seem quite reasonable bar the exception of SDMT which I agree, is not worth the wait, Slinky Dog is much better! FOP is always a long queue but a fantastic ride. Never stayed in a Disney resort hotel either and we've managed to get on all rides without the use of LL purchases! The only issue that time of year visiting is the weather. These are fab tips and we always go against the grain and I find it makes our vacation more enjoyable!
