Hi, In this video we share with you our experience with our dual battery set-up. We have the IBS dual battery system & the Redarc Electronics BCDC 1240D dc to dc charger.

We noticed that our BCDC charger wasn't working properly & that the IBS system might be the problem.

We explain in detail how we found the problem and how we easily fixed it, without removing any of those great accessories.

About Off-Track Family:

We are a family of 4 with 2 children. We are overlanding for years now on wild tracks in our Land Rover Defender 110.
Our expedition vehicle is a Land Rover Defender camper conversion. Some people say it’s more like a bug out vehicle but for us it’s the perfect 4wd off-road tourer with best 4x4 camping set-up.

Nous sommes une famille de 4 dont 2 enfants. Nous voyageons depuis des années sur les pistes dans notre Land Rover Defender 110.
Notre véhicule d’expédition est un Defender aménagé. Certains le décrivent plus comme un véhicule de survie mais pour nous c’est le parfait compromis d’aménagement 4x4 et tout-terrain pour le camping.
Nous avons acheté ce véhicule neuf en 2009 et sa motorisation est un TD4 2.4tdci Puma. Nous l’avons transformé jour après jour en un parfait tout terrain de camping 4x4 et il nous permet d’être autonomes lors d’un bivouac, d’un voyage 4x4 ou simplement lors d’un voyage en famille.
Nous adorons passer du temps dans la nature et explorer les pistes sauvages du monde entier en famille.

Thank you for this video! I have the IBS system installed and will be adding the Redarc BCDC charger to gain the benefits of the DC to DC controller and the use of solar. We typically camp for 3-4 days so having the solar has become essential. This was exactly what I needed, as I too thought that the IBS relay path would supersede the BDDC input to the Aux battery, so your input confirmed my thoughts and helped a ton as I didn't know about the ability to disable the IBS relay. PERFECT! Thank you again!

That was helpful, i will apply both next week. I have a question regarding the auto link from ibs if its turned off still it will give me right readings for both batteries? Last question why dint you apply RedArc Smart Battery Isolator to help you when main battery is dead ?. Your answer would be helpful to make my decision 👌🏻

Interesting video how 2 great systems can work against each other a little without some tweaking ! I’ve often thought about running the IBS system over the current basic split charger I run, although to be fair that’s been on the Defender for about 13 years so far !

Hi, I would like to have some more clarifications about how your dual batt system is:
1. Isolating the two batt specialy the starter batt not to be drained by the apliences connected to the aux batt.
2. Is it posible to use the Aux batt. as a backup for the main ?
3. How the system is reply when an AC external charger will be used to maintain the batteries or the BC/DC Redarc can do this function ?

Intéressant. J'ai aussi un IBS systeme couplé avec u panneau solaire et régulateur MPPT et je n'ai pas le problème que vous rencontrez car le régulateur MPPT passe sur les 3 modes et souvent lorsque je consomme sur ma batterie secondaire en mode boost. Pourquoi avec l'alternateur la 2ème batterie ne se charge pas complètement, comment l'avez vous détecté ? J'ai l'IBS depuis 25 ans et je n'ai pas remarqué que ma batterie auxiliaire ne se chargeait pas correctement mais peut être que je
