It did not mention who is the foundry. What is clear is that it has been designed, a collobration between Xiaomi and Unisoc. However its not clear if Unisoc is foundry capable.

I would wait for September launching of the Huawei Mate70 to see if it's going to run on a 5nm or 3nm. If it's 3nm, Roimondo will have to create supernatural lie to the media to explain her way out.

Also, if its 3nm, this would mean Huawei either have a very advance DUV better than ASML NXT 2050 or an EUV. There is no other way to produce a 3nm chip. Techniques like SAQP will go as far as 5nm with additional other techniques like Forksheet and VGAA will only improve the performance of this 5nm to 4nm level. Its cannot reach the desired 3nm transistor density. Only with a very specoal DUV or EUV, the 3nm and 2nm can be produced.

Launching the Huawei Mate70 using a 3nm chip means China is making real progress in not only in manufacturing chips but also producing equipment that is being used to manufacture chips. In other word, filling the gap in the supply chain and this is more important than manufacturing the chip itself.

The video content says that Xiaomi has only designed the chip and is ready to begin production. Since Xiaomi doesn't operate the foundries any actual chip is still speculative. Additionally, although more advanced technology is usually desirable I don't know that it's critical for an EV, in fact using over technology can mean higher yield and lower costs.
