A-TBAL: TRADITIONAL MOROCCAN TEA CEREMONY MUSIC

Mint tea is an essential part of the Moroccan cultural heritage. It is so important that there is even a special musical ritual to accompany the serving of the hot beverage called a-tbal. The instruments used are the Tbl drum and the tea table including the tea glasses. The drum is made from wood from the Jdhari tree while its strings are made from stretched camel leather. Songs usually start with religious verses before transitioning into regular subjects about love and day-to-day struggles.
