Cambodia's Angkor Wat gives up its secrets

An analysis of wall paintings and graffiti at Cambodia's ancient temple, Angkor Wat, has suggested the temple remained in use during its conversion from Hinduism to Buddhism. Al Jazeera's Scott Heidler reports reports from Angkor Wat, Cambodia.

It was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yaśodharapura (Khmer: យសោធរបុរៈ, present-day Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaiva tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu.

I am Cambodian. I can tell a lot of things about Angkor Wat but that is what I learned from books in school. It is not really accurate if you compare the new studies from historians. I don't care whatever it is. But I just hope this temple and other temples will be well preserved for Cambodian new generation to come.

This temple was not converted to Buddhism it was already a Buddhist temple.
There was no religion Hindu in India before Britishers. Hindu religion came recently only 100 to 150 years back. India was divided in castes and Brahmins were on the top so it was called Brahmin religion and they copied everything from Buddhism. Buddhist all over world should research again properly because they are manipulating and taking all credits of Buddhists and there monuments and they are also claiming all as theirs.
They have claimed yoga, martial arts, Meditation and many Buddhists archaeological sites, statues as theirs.

Angkor Wat was never built to Honor the Hindu Gods. The temple was constructed during the time of Jayavaraman the 2nd to honor the Khmer first God and King Jayavaraman the 1st, she was a woman. Her name was (Preah Neang Neak Komino Porisat) she was the 12th youngest daughter of the 7 Headed Dragon King. The temple itself was a replica image of a (Cow Barn) in the heavens realm, and being guarded by statues of the Gods of the Four Elements, not Vishnu. The design also incorporate the 7Headed Dragon and Lord Brahma, by the way Lord Brahma was never a Hindu god to begin with. The temple itself is over 4, 000 years old. Hindu didn't invade Cambodia until the time of Jayavaraman the 5th. So many historians has been manipulated by the French interpretation of Angkor Wat, because they had invaded Cambodia and completely whipped out our history and culture and retold the truth of our heritage. People should really think about this, if Hindu originally from India how come Ankor Wat is built in another country construct the Oldest and largest temple that was built to represent their gods? The truth is, Hindu might be one of the oldest religion that has existed but it was never the first religion for the Khmer people. Our first God was (Preah Neang Neak Komino Porisat) the 12th Youngest daughter of the 7headed Dragon King and Khmer first true King.
