Great work as always bro. Have a question regarding to column Lap length.
We are adding another 2 floors on a G+1 . Its about 25 years old.
The issue is the steel thats there for the columns is only 2.5 feet .
My bars are all stopping in Zone A only with a length of 2.5 feet and bar diameter = 16mm and 12mm . This is a old construction . How to do lap ? Can you give any suggestions . The options I have are :
1. Just give lap in zone A only with closer stirrups around 75mm.
Staggering of lap not possible .
2. Rebaring with a hole beside the old bar with either Lockfix or Hilti or Just mortar .
3. Coupler
4. Chip the beams attaching into the column so that the top bars are visible and weld the new bars in the column to them with a L shape ( Like how we do in the Footing)
