What really comes through is all the themes from their old albums, the strings remind me of the hello sadness days, that familiar melancholic optimism with a burn it all down overtone. I’m new to Los Campesinos with this record. I lost a best friend this summer when he took his own life. We were bonded through music. I don’t know if he would’ve been a fan but for me it hit me at just the right time and helped me keep a steady keel during a dark time. This album has been on steady repeat all summer. And this song in particular speaks directly to me.
