Had the opportunity to try some "werters original" and rum redistilled a while back, it was awesome!
-I was utterly shocked how good it was, been sneaking it into everything from coffee, coco to julmust and its the bomb, my bottle is about empty now so camt wait for the next time my friend make some;)

Vodka's really good for just dissolving things into. Maybe run it through a strainer if it's too gummy afterwards. I'm really surprised by the clarity on that distillation though, those tootsie rolls were thoroughly melted into that vodka in the still. That little tank is doing some heavy lifting!

you have inspired me to still more. in my state (oregon) its illegal to still spirits but i love doing it so much. i wanted to share a storie. cops were going home to home asking about a crime in the area and the cop at my door asked me what the smell was and without thinking i let him come in he asked to use the bathroom. well he went straight to the kitchen and found my airstill and asked me whats up. i didnt want to lie so i told him i was just making some vodka (even though it was definitly 200 proof run) and he just scratched his chin and gave me a smile. well turns out he was learning about stilling himself and we both had a laugh i showed him your youtube and he was grinning about some of your meme still episodes lol.

needless to say we keep in touch now and have you to thank! at the time i was doing the kool aid run.

The way I see it, finished products for the masses like Tootsie Rolls are engineered to have everything your taste buds want and nothing they don't. Since distillation is inherently a reductive process, the distilled product will have less than that, and therefore lacking something you might want to taste. I think the most worthwhile things to distill have things you don't want in them, e.g. the things you cut out of a molasses wash during distillation. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for the video Jesse!

Mix Kahlua liqueur and orange juice for a perfect Tootsie roll drink. No one has been able to explain why that sort of sorcery works, but it does.
Try Brachs toffee chewy candy sometime as well.

I have always wondered if you could make a milk (whey) whiskey. I am guessing you would need to use lactase to make the whey sugars available for fermentation.

I have a spirit distillation experiment I'm going to suggest.  I just came up with this, but I'm gonna be posting this to a few of your videos from now on, just in the hopes that you'll see it.

In-short, it is a VERY different way to create a (hopefully!) tasty distilled beverage.  Where you separate a wash into two halves (via distillation) then treat them differently, and recombine the results later.

In more detail, you would first create your mash or wash like normal, and separate out the low-wines like normal, making cuts for four-shots etc.

The difference ghough, is that you SAVE the leavings from the original still run.  This liquid should have nearly no alcohol, lots of water, and normally would just be garbage, right?

Well that liquid MAY contain a lot of compounds that can be really tasty!  So what if, instead of just throwing it away, you instead filter, and concentrate it?  You would use other methods to remove the water, like freeze-distillation (safe because there is no four-shots methanol left) boiling it down to reduce volume, or even using A3 molecular sieves if you wanna get fancy.  Obviously filtered (charcoal?) To remove unwanted particles and bad flavour.

The low-wines are distilled again and any flavour-cuts needed are made appropriately.  But you DON'T water it down to age.

Instead, you add the concentrate that you made from the original wash, so all the good flavour-compounds in the original wash are re-introduced.  This brings the alcohol % back down to a reasonable level for aging, etc.

Thus you should have something that is thoroughly different from almost any distilled beverage on the planet, and could be really interesting!.

You may want to check out the other flavors of Tootsie Rolls. They offer a variety pack called Tootsie Roll Fruit Chews, and come in Lemon, Lime, Cherry, Orange, and Vanilla (my favorite).

They also offer Sour packs (orange, cherry, lemon, watermelon, blue raspberry), and All Reds packs (cherry, watermelon, strawberry, fruit punch).

I don't still, but I'm enjoying watching your channel very much.

Tootsie Rolls are ok, I used to get them a lot for Halloween and at Christmas, if I had a choice between Good 'n Plentys or Tootsie Rolls, I'd definitely pick the Tootsie Rolls.
