Xola is an 18 year old male who was selected as a GOLD Peer Educator when he was in grade 10 due to his leadership potential (He says he was already influencing people, just not in a good way!). He lives in Kraaifontein, a community riddled with poverty, gangsterism and crime. Xola grew up in a single parent household with four siblings. In this inspirational talk from TEDxCapeTownED, Xola lays out his personal transformation and the impact on the community around him.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
