Imagine the power of the Chin first emperor of China to order such monumental work as 9000 terra cotta army with realistic details in an era when populations were in thousands, not hundred millions. A work with no material benefit or gain, all spiritual and honorific to the soldier. That in itself is extermely impressing. Such power and benevolence are almost alien to us. Now nothing gets done unless it benefits some executives in a big corportation and is usually nefarious for the rest of us. We have degenerated, not evolved socially.
