XDefiant has had a WILD 24 hours or so that we need to discuss. Admittedly, I'm a bit late to the party, decided for the first time in a long time that I was going to be "Normal" and take the weekend off and sure enough, as soomn as I got in my car to leave with alternate content ready to go, the new report dropped for XDefiant so today we're breaking down this whirlwind of a 24 hour span or so and the sheer amount of confusion with the project of XDefiant as a whole. The idea that this game was announced three years ago and yet we don’t know jack shit about the release date is insane

Here's my 2 cents about this whole xDefiant thing, it's pretty annoying to see a lot of the community just whine on and on about it not releasing. A lot of the community when it came to call of duty have been saying "I wish this and that dev got more time to make this and that game (or mode)" "I wish modern games didn't release broken all the time", and when a dev is actually taking the time, is open with the community more than anybody elssye, willing to push the release MONTHS back to deliver a finished and polished product, people start being annoying "Where's the release date" "Where's the game"... womp womp acting like they preordered 100 USD edition and Ubisoft owed them something.

A critical thing to remember is that xDefiant is a relatively a small operation, and it is under ubisoft, and ubisoft is no stranger to cancelling games, or even discontinuing their live-service games, now imagine if xDefiant released broken and unfinished (Kind of a Battlefield 2042 situation), not ready for the influx of lots of players, and the launch would be a disaster - I imagine the playercount would plummet instantly, and the xDefieant team wouldn't be given enough time or chance to have their 'redemption' like battlefield while directly competing with one of the biggest franchises in the genre, I imagine Ubisoft might just give up on the title if the launch was a disaster.

Another thing is that I'm not really surprised they have technical issues given the engine they have been working with - Snowdrop (the Division, the division 2, South Park...) which had to be significantly overhauled/modified for Ubisoft's Avatar: Frontiers of pandora.

And finally: I don't think it would've mattered if it released during 2023 before MW3, I think it would maybe even make things a little worse because a lot of people would go back to (pretty decent) new Call of Duty. There's always gonna be competition with Call of Duty, no matter the year or title. I say let's give em time - Not like we got nothing to play. Let em make a finished game we can enjoy. When was the last time that being impatient helped anything in game development

This reminds me of when halo infinite delayed the game a full year then it ended up flopping anyways. Xdefiant should just release the game because people already forgot about it

Personally I’m already checked out of this game it might bring me back if the release is in a dead time for new games. I just feel like the release is gonna feel just like the beta with nothing new added until months down the road.

Honestly they dont have to make the game special I really enjoyed the beta been looking forward all year to play this. I loved the non ranked match making

I don't care anymore. Rationally, nobody else should either, until the company ACTUALLY has a product to show for and stops bs'ing people. They played everybody like the fools they are. They kept everyone hanging on for over a year, thinking a release was soon, waiting for news and a launch date. Waiting the for the games 'polishing' to be finished. The reality is they were actually rebuilding the game aka "major infrastructure and system overhauls" and didn't want to state such because they sht the bed and failed big time. Clearly the game won't release soon and even if it does, it will fail because it's not a game that's been polished for a year, it was simply being rebuilt or overhauled and won't fit many gamers expectations. I don't trust the company or Mark, don't have any reason to take them, the game or the games future seriously after this. Mark said there "wasn't anything to tweet about". Wtf Really? Everyone thought the game was being polished over a year ago and was expected to launch nearly every month and you didn't think it was news or tweet worthy to tell people the game is being rebuilt so don't expect launch anytime soon. Nah, I'm not playing the fool.
