Skala is the island's port, located almost in the middle of the island 3km northeast of Patmos Town. The port is located in a narrow cove, forming a neck that looks like it splits the island in two. The village is built on the site of the ancient capital of the island, the ruins of which are preserved on Kastelli Hill. Visit the church of Agia Paraskevi, which is on the way to Grigos. The church was founded in the 17th century and is built on the foundations of an ancient temple. In the area of Skala you will find some of the nicest beaches on the island. It is the most developed tourist area of the island and there are hotels of all categories here as well as rooms to let.
