AliExpress Budget Chinese Carbon Bike (SL8 Killer?) - HYGGE MODEL S REVIEW

Here's my review of the Hygge Model S so far after about 400km. Overall it's a great bike for the price I paid, and I'm looking forward to putting it through the test over time and over many rides!

Is this the bike from China that will put the big brands to shame? Also how many of these can you buy vs the SL8? For reference the Hygge Model S frame, handlebar, seatpost and small parts came out to roughly $650USD or $900CAD.

I just built up mine a 49cm Black on black (basically clear coated raw carbon) with Ultegra DI2, a Cybrei Crank and Elite Drive 50D wheels. Mine came in at 6.9kg with pedals, cages and garmin mount. The frame doesn't have the packaging or fit and finish of the more recent Yoeleo bikes or Winspace (like you said sharp edges but nothing that couldn't be filed down). But dang, even when I tested it with 105 DI2 and the same crank it still came in at 7.1KG. Most ''superbikes'' don't weigh in at that. Great video, nice to see the bike getting some air time on a Canadian channel to boot!

Hey people!! I am the guy that cracked the frame! Just to add on, I had been talking to them about it as I was misinformed on the torque specifications and they are sending me a replacement so I can vouch that they do honour their warranty! All that is need it to pay the shipping cost🥳 great video!

I've bought the frame for my son, model 2024... just arrived after, I have 25 years off experience in cycling and 5 years as bike mechanic, this frameset seems high quality, the build will tell me more, you're review convinced me to choose this frame for him... he is going to use this in races.

Ive had that exact frame now for 2 years, built up with 12spd sram force wireless.
I love it at this price point its awesome. Small issues seat post slipped until I wrapped with some tape. I just plugged unused cable routing holes with "O" ring rubber I cut down.
All in all superb bike and at this price point very hard to beat. Also good communications from Hygge.

About the headset, you need to cut the head tube lower than the face about 3 - 4 mm and when you put the cap in that cap will pull your headset not lose and tight the screw enought for easy turn but dont too lose and it smoth like butter .😊

Funny, i use the same frame and same brakes!
I had to play around quite a lot with the adjustment of the brakes but once settled up, they brake much much better than rim brakes or other mechanical disc brake.

Nice build. It's fast because it's more aero compared to the ones you mentioned you had before.

Good review! Kinda off topic, but what those pants you're wearing around 10:25 mark? Decent cold weather pants?

Nice. I think it is common to have a bit of loosening on the handlebar, esp at first. I have had to tighten once or twice, also redo the crank preload once. You bike looks great.

Are the brake housing compressionless? If not the braking can feel soft. They are not cheap but if you use disc brake they are quite essential.

mate, thank you for your review.

I want to buy a new roster set, this roster set is among my options. I will use it for racing. it needs to be very hard, its reactions need to be very sensitive. would you recommend it?

Thanks for the review.

For people who have the seat post go loose you can add some thread locker

Hey Henry, great video. I’m stuck between this and an Elves eglath (an endurance frame), do you find the frame comfortable over longer distances or do you think it feels harsh? I had a trifox X16 before and this will be the crash replacement ;)
