Its Hawaii and they have alot of rain there the river floods so they are helping the community from flooding and enjoying it at the same time when the water drops enough it stops and the ocean fills the gap back in

The comments from the mainland people who don't know anything about the amount of rain we have annually and the amount of fresh water that naturally pours into the ocean from the mountains every year is crazy to think about. It just seems normal to see this if you live here.

I always love seeing this - you could use a spoon for hours to make the tiniest amount of water flowing down to the sea. Turns into monstrous streams! Somehow realy satisfying to watch

This is Waimea bay on the north shore of Oahu Hawaii. This is done on purpose to relieve the backed up water from a nearby river. Once it's done flowing, the ocean naturally refills the sandy beach.

Near my house there is something similar. I go early in the morning after flods to do this with a couple of friends.

Some places need this because the trapped water starts the grow bacteria and become stagnant and polluted or breeding grounds for dangerous mosquitoes.
