Dad used to say 2 ears 1 mouth means listen twice as much as you speak . Then would say, we all need 10 ears.

I love learning from someone else’s mistakes. Old timers always set you on the right path bc they already done it

I 100% agree with this, I really enjoy talking to old timers, always with respect and admiration, they’re the real deal!!

I would always ask old timers "what's the secret to life?" They would almost always respond with a good laugh and say something along the lines of "there is no secret" I was confused at first, but it made me realize that life is a constant learning process, and there is no secret recipe to life and having it all figured out. Some of the best wisdom I've ever gotten to this day. Old folks know a thing or two to say the least.

Just sit around a campfire and listen to the way it was back then. The ol timers lived it so learn from them. I'm 70 and wished I'd listen more back then.

My favorite people to talk to are old country boys and vets, they can give you some pearls of wisdom like no one else in the world and you can pretty much guarantee that they’re right

A friend of mine who had recently visited Austria to practice his German told me that when I move to Italy for 2 years, to intentionally talk to retired people sitting alone on park benches. He said they're all over the place in Europe during warmer days.

As soon as I got off the train from Milan to Conegliano (Treviso), I went into the patio outside the train station where there was a coffee shop also serving food. I sat down and talked to an older gentleman all by himself who gave me the history of World War I and World War II from his father's perspective in the former, and from his experience in the latter. It was like a 4-Hour tutorial that you'd never find in a book or a classroom.

As a kid I hang around with my dads older friends. I learned more about life and stayed out of trouble. Hanging out with the younger crowd will just get you in trouble that's the truth!😮

When I was in 2nd grade, my grandparents lived in a quiet, safe neighborhood miles out town. It was not a trailer park, but a neighborhood of mobile/manufactured homes populated by families and the elderly. In the cul-de-sac lane we lived in, all our neighbors were elderly. I would go visit them and my grandma had to come find me. One of my best friends was over 100 years old. He had a lot of stories to tell. My only regret was that I have never been a great communicator or conversationalist and wished I had asked more questions, but I did like hearing their stories.

This is so true.
Have always gravitated towards older folk, the wisdom, the experiences, the hardship they faced, and the humour. Surprising how much you can learn 😊

You Crack me up with your videos, I got respect for Old Timers like you I don't ever take any advice from somebody like you, this is the first time I'm able to respond to one of your videos now and one of the last ones I seen you said no one is coming to save you in that my dude that gets on my nerves more than anything in this world people like you that say that when we have a lord and savior that's coming to save every single one of us that is right with God so put your pipe down whatever you got down in it reflect on your own self and try to be better

My grandfather is 91 years old, and the only health problem he has is slightly low blood pressure. He walks 2 miles a day, tends to his garden, pool, and own house, seems extremely happy, and tells me everyday how much gratitude he has, he also gives me some of the greatest wisdom I've ever heard, but I know he won't live forever, so any wisdom he gives me, I try never to forget it. Talking to older people really can make a lot of problems seem temporary, and like they won't bother you forever. I definitely recommend hanging out with old folks if you feel lost, depressed, anxious, and want guidance.

I have been in the fire department on a very busy house. And the first thing I did coming out of academy and being at my station, was to find the oldest guy and to become his shadow. I learned more from him that I could ever imagine.
