Ancestor Veneration | Creating an Ancestor Altar

Do you think that ancestor altars can include ancestors that we don't really know of? I have some Scandinavian ancestry and I would like to believe that maybe my ancestors way way far back might have practiced Norse paganism as well. I might make an altar for them but I'm unsure because there's no way of actually knowing who they were.

You have created very tastful and beautiful altar space, I love it, and I'm sure that your ancestors do also.
Too often I see pagan's sharing images of their altars and they are like something from a horror movie with animal skulls and black candles etc.
I don't know if you agree, but my Great-mothers would never be seen hanging around such things.
White candles, cut crystal glass, silver photo frames, lace doilies are more to their tastes.
